Welcome to 31 Days of The Little Things: Day 1

Welcome to 31 Days of The Little Things: Day 1

Hello and welcome to 31 Days of The Little Things!

During the summer, I posted about participating in 31 Days of Change with the same group of women from last year.

I’m really excited to be doing this project again this year and look forward to sharing with you for the month of October.

~It isn’t the big pleasures that count the most; it’s making a great deal out of the little ones.

~I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.

~We can not do great things. We can only do little things with great love.

I used to be someone who lived for the big stuff – birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, parties, celebrations, big news, bad news. Basically, I felt like life was just a series of moments spread out between the big stuff. I’d miss living in the days leading up to a  big celebration. I’d slack off on life, stop paying attention and really miss everything around me because I was too focused on waiting for the big stuff. I forgot to enjoy the process because I was staring too far into the future looking for the result.

For the month of October, I’ll be sharing about how savoring the little moments, the small, simple wonderful things in life has opened my eyes again to see that what our lives are made up of and what makes life beautiful isn’t the big stuff – those things are too few and far between to live for them – but it’s about the simple little things. A warm cup of coffee on a chilly morning with a loved one. Holding little hands on a walk. Wearing flip flops in October. An unexpected hug. We all have the things in our lives that make them brighter, more beautiful and help us get through the days. These are some of mine.

Let’s face it, life is not easy. But it is beautiful. For the month of October I’ll be writing about noticing and appreciating the little slivers of perfection that weave their way through the mundane moments my days. Hopefully this will provide some inspiration for you.

The new twist on this project for this year is that we’ve asked anyone who is so inclined to join in this project with us. I look forward to reading about what you will be sharing for the month of October. You can add your link to your own 31 days project into the linky below. The nifty part is that if you add your link here on my site, it adds to the linky on all 8 of our sites. So just add it once and it shows up everywhere. Let’s hope the internet doesn’t break!

  4. When I opened up my Google Reader, I was so excited to find out that nine of my favorite women are participating in the 31 days series and you are one of them! I am going to be reading about a ton of different topics this month, but I am so glad that I get to read about the little things. I know I have been trying to pay attention to the little things more often in my life.

Thank you so much for making this commitment to write for 31 days! I am so looking forward to it!!!

  10. I’m not ready to jump on the 31 Day bandwagon (although I hope you do it again next year so that I can), but I am so excited for your series! The picture you posted sucked me right in… a cup of coffee, flip flops, and a body of water combines all of my favorite “simple things.” I can wait to read what you have to write!

  12. I totally agree with you! It’s about being in whatever moment you are in. It seems like I have often waited for the “big” moment with unrealistic expectations and often missed the blessings of a “little” moment. I’ve got lots to learn and can’t wait to follow along with you this month!

  16. No matter if some one searches for his necessary thing, therefore he/she needs to be available that
in detail, therefore that thing is maintained over here.
