My kids have been driving me crazy for the last week. I am in a “make no apologies” stage of life right now, so the me that would’ve once felt like it wasn’t okay to say that, is going to say it and not be sorry about it. I don’t know what it is, but it’s like my growing by the minute 4 and 6 year old thought it would be fun to spend a few days acting 2 again. It’s been making me a little loony. Some people don’t believe me when I say this, but I don’t have much patience for whining and crying and bickering. Instead of spending my days saying the same “stop it!” over and over and over again, I’ve been engaging. More moments right in the middle to stave off the bickering before it starts. Making them giggle so they don’t have time to whine. More one-on-one time with each of them. Somehow, I know the battle is not over, but I’d rather face it this way than be the mom that can’t stand the sound of her voice saying the same thing for the 187th time today while checking my email.

Right there with you Em. It must be their ages. I tried working against it for a few weeks and just wasn’t happy with the MOther I felt like I was becoming. I’m redirecting & engaging in many of the same ways you are … and trying to expel as much energy as possible throughout the day. Works better for all of us. As much as I hate to type this, I find teh less time I spend online … the easier it is for all of us

We are going through a little clingy whiny stage right now so I kind of understand. Keep at it and it’ll pass. Laughter IS the best medicine!

I love the attitude! Stay positive.
Sometimes putting a little more effort forth is a lot easier than trying to ignore the constant buzzing whine. Engage & interact. Wonderful! Thanks for the reminder

No Worries! I know exactly what you are talking about. Once the 2 year old phase is through, going back is tough, isn’t it?
