I don’t sit on the floor and play as often as I should. Usually the second I sit on the floor to play, I realize that I need to vacuum. Or my aging body gets achy. There are plenty of excuses for thinking it’s okay to just be in the room and not really engaged when they play. I make them often. Today, on my living room floor that needs to be vacuumed and amidst the Sunday afternoon laundry piles, I just sat. And built. Engaged. It was worth the aching back.

I love this.

Oh, I so know what you mean! Just the other day I let everything be and go down to play, my 2 year old just kept saying, “This is fun Mama, this is fun!” It was fun. Especially to see her happy

It does always feel wonderful to really engage with your kids. I don’t know why we, as mothers, make so many excuses not to. I guess we just feel busy or like there are other things to do. However, when you really think about it, there really is no more important thing to do – for you or for them.
