I can hardly believe that the year is ending. Not one too keen on beginning of the year resolutions, I do really enjoy end of year reflections. I love looking at progress and change. Sometimes I have to remind myself that when it feels like I am standing still, I really am moving forward, making progress toward a goal and that things are indeed different than they were. Now that our house is done-ish, we’ve simply been enjoying, breathing in the new spaces, and settling. It feels really nice, especially when I think back to how things were. It will be fun to see how much things change over the coming year or if our remodeling ends up being more about life and less about the house. Only time will tell. For now, here is a recap of the projects that got completed this year around this little casa.

I was feeling a lot like a moose with a muffin or a cat with a cupcake or a mouse with a cookie when I got new cabinet knobs.

Twelve hours before hosting my son’s 3rd birthday party, I painted and rearranged furniture in the living room.

I handed my kids paint brushes and let them paint their Ikea step stools.

I learned how to make an ottoman slipcover. I also learned that white and my kids don’t get along and it didn’t last. But it was indeed nice while it lasted.

I painted a yard sale chair green and have used it every day since. I am sitting on it right this instant, in fact.

I gave my daughter’s dresser a makeover.

We finally converted what was once a garage into our master bedroom.
and last but not least

finished the master bathroom.
I am adding this post to Rhoda’s Top Projects of 2010 Party.

Oh I’m with you – I love the end-of-year reflections so much more than the resolutions!
And I had to laugh about the Great White Slipcover Escapade: our camel-back sofa got a white slipcover when we moved into our own remodeling project, and it now looks very tragic indeed. The whole ‘it’s great with kids, you just whip it off & wash it!’ line? Yeah right. There’s only so much you can wash out.
The photos were inspirational though – thanks for sharing, and I hope you take time in your end-of-year reflections to congratulate yourselves on just how much you accomplished. (I am *especially* jealous of your master bedroom & bath – that’s way way down on our list of projects.)

Yeah, you were just a little busy! I love your bathroom, and the blue you used in your bedroom. Pretty!

I love your bathroom! A master bathroom reno is on my list for 2011. And I WISH I could make slipcovers. Sewing is one thing I have yet to tackle.

Oh, I just love your home!! All of your projects are beautiful!
I used to think that I wanted white slipcovers, but with five kids and six cats, I just don’t think it is going to work. I think I will stick with brown couches. The color of dirt.
Hope you are having a wonderful week!
Beth.

Such fun to see your fabulous collection of projects – I still smile when I see that dresser – SO cheery and the story behind it is great as well.
I hope you have a fabulous new year. Enjoy your space, you’ve earned it!!
