Adventure Blocks

Adventure Blocks

This post could otherwise be titled How I Get My Kids To Play Quietly for Hours.

I found these wood blocks recently at a thrift store. Pottery Barn Kids Adventure Blocks that apparently aren’t sold anymore. I bought them because I have a 6 year old who loves to read, write and make up stories and a 3 year old who loves to build with blocks. I thought they’d be perfect for both of them and they have been.

One will sit and put together stories and the other will build towers and fences with them. Both are happy. Which makes me happy.

The blocks each have little phrases on them to string together into one big adventurous story.

They are just as fun when the stories are nonsense

I love them so much I am tempted to go get myself a big piece of wood and cut it down into blocks, paint them, write and draw on them and give them as gifts to all the kids I know. Wouldn’t that be fun?

I am thinking the same thing before I read the end of your post. I am wishing that you would show us all of the blocks (PLEEEEEEASE)so that we could copy and make your own. My husband is a great drawer so that takes care of that part, and I can do the rest. I would love to use them in our homeschooling. Thanks for the great idea.

How wonderful are those!! What a find! They must have been another one of those pesky regional PB releases b/c I’ve never seen them. My boys would absolutely love somethink like this. Alas, I don’t see myself making them anytime soon =) Thanks for sharing!

Send one of those sets our way when you get around to making them for all the kids you know. :) Or you could just email me a list of the phrases on some of them if you ever get a chance.
