Alternately titled The Most Embarrassing Blog Post I’ve Ever Written. (Just to clarify – the embarrassing part is the taking pictures of myself and putting them on the internet. Not the thrift shopping part. I proudly tell anyone who asks about the deals I find.)
I am seriously self conscious about this post today. But I get asked about this all the time so I feel like I can’t go through this month without sharing that nearly my entire clothing wardrobe is thrifted. Between Goodwill, consignment stores, yard sales and ebay I have attempted to put together a closet of clothes that look decent, I am comfortable in for the job I do all day being a mama, and that fits well into our teensy budget.
My hubby just said yesterday that he appreciates that I care about looking put together and nice but don’t do it at the detriment of our family and our other needs.
Without further ado – I have some outfits that I wiggled into to share today.

I do not consider myself some sort of fashion person. I pick basic colors with a little extra something to make them stand out. I love cowl necks and rucching. I love plain old dark jeans and tee shirts with flip flops. I don’t think a person has to choose between mom jeans and being a slave to the mall. I am allergic to the mall. I get itchy just thinking about it in all of it’s new high priced trendiness.
I am sharing this today because to me it is important to feel good about myself and part of that comes in looking decent. I almost never wear makeup and I live in flip flops but I love to feel like something about me is pulled together a little. I am not an average size, so when I hear people say that they can’t find clothes second hand because nothing is their size I don’t believe them. No matter what size, people complain they can’t find anything long enough, short enough, big enough, small enough. Sometimes you’ll get lucky, other times you’ll find nothing. It may take a little time, but it’s worth it to not spend so much money.
