My friend Katie of the blog Making This Home has a lovely shop called Gadanke. I visit her shop and feel instantly relaxed. It’s beautiful, the products – journals for celebrating your story – are so full of care and consideration, simplicity and lovliness.
The pages are made for you to fill with moments – simple and mundane – that make up your story. I love the {Love Where We Live}: A Home Minibook. From Katie’s description of the journal:
Writing prompts will have you thinking about bits of your home – everything from that big splurge purchase to the smells of favorite meals, from together time and holidays to remembering the day you knew this house would be home.
Additional prompts help you capture favorite spots in town – Celebrate those beloved restaurants, places to take guests, and even your all-time favorite tourist trap. Your family changes over time; so does your town.
Photo frame pages will inspire you to snap pictures – You’ll want to record where you scrub those teeth (bathroom), dream at night (bedrooms), and laugh together (living room, dinner table…). And why not take action shots? Get the whole family documenting the days together.
I love the idea of celebrating where we are in life. This journal will help you to remember and to celebrate the beautiful and small things around you – at home and out and about.
Katie is generously giving away one {Love Where We Live} journal to a lucky Remodeling This Life reader. All you have to do is comment to be entered. The giveaway will run until May 19th at midnight when I will choose a winner at random. The winner may choose the color of their journal.
Go visit Katie at her blog and shop. You’ll be glad you did.
*******Please note, I am aware my comments aren’t working for everyone and trying to fix it. Until it is fixed, if you have trouble leaving a comment, please use my contact form with your comment and I will enter it for you myself. Thank you!! *******

Oh, I happened on her shop the other day– what a lovely concept.

I have been giving thought to scrapbooking again. This would be just perfect.

We just moved to a new town in a completely new area to us. I’d love to fill this in as we discover our new home and to remember it when we inevitably move again in a few years.

This is a great way to remember. We forget to just stop and try to appreciate our lives where they are..This would definitely help remind me to remember.

This would be such a wonderful thing to do with my oldest as my helper. Neat idea! Thanks for all the links to great shops- though Ken disagrees.

What a great idea! Even though I don’t currently 100% love where I live, it’s important to remind me of the things that I really do love!

loving where you live is just a state of mind, right?? I am such a huge fan of ways to capture where we ARE, at any given moment.
Great giveaway!

I was just thinking tonight about having a blog party where people create week long posts featuring what they love about their hometowns. How ironic that you are having this fabulous giveaway. I’m definitely purchasing one if I don’t win.

Oh, please let me win this one! We are moving back to Florida after spending a year in Ireland living and working in a house of 17 people, some with special needs. I can’t wait to have a little home again…

thanks.”

what a great idea — love this.

Oh, this is so cute! I have seen those journals with prompts for grandparents to tell about their lives, etc. but I love the idea of a guided journal just about your home. As a military brat, I can only imagine how cool it would be to have had one of those for each place we lived, to remember favorite parts of each house and each town!

I love Katie’s blog and the those journals are so sweet!

I absolutely ADORE this idea. My daughter and I were just talking last night, on a bike ride, about the smells of different places…if we were blind folded and taken to different childhood homes..or grandparent’s home…could we tell the difference…just from the smell and the feel of the air and the sounds. YES! It’s SO much a part of us.

Free journal? Yes, please!
