Holiday Decorating For Less Than $2

December 11, 2009 at 7:00 am , by Emily

I spent $1.84 this year to decorate my home. Using almost only all things that I already had, here is what I have done to make my home about as festive as it’s going to get for under $2. I bought the grapevine wreath for $1 and the green retro ornaments for 84 cents. Everything else was flung together with stuff from around the house.

Other projects I’ve done this season totally free by using what I have are epsom salt candles, sweater stocking, and phototiles.

Added to Julia’s holiday home tours party and Melissa’s Beautiful Life Friday. Check them out for people who actually decorate fabulously.

it is so perfect. warning though, i put a candle in a jar and lit it the other night – the flame was close to the glass and ended up breaking the jar. No fire but a mess with the wax : )

i have also had issues with lighting the candles in the jars – not with breaking but with the melting. the red candles kind of look like they got shot and are bleeding when they melt.

but i like how they look otherwise :)

I like the little stockings you hung across the windows. Too cute! I’m amazed that you managed to decorate with $1.84. I kept mine around $40 this year and thought THAT was good. Ha.

Hope you’re having a good weekend, Emily! :)

Your decor looks great. I love the simplicity of it all and the burlap stockings are adorable. I have green and brown and will have to copy this idea from you. “They” say it is the sincerest form of flattery, you know! :) Thanks for sharing!
