I lied. I’m still crafting away for Christmas. Every time I say I’ll just sit still and enjoy, I think of one more thing. This time it was because I got the box of Christmas stuff out and there were only two stockings. There are 4 of us. The two I have don’t match. So I figured I’d make 4 new ones. I’m actually really enjoying the stillness of being in my home, creating things for the people I love and the place we call home.
I saw this idea for sweater stockings over at Edie’s blog and figured I’d try that out. If it worked out, I’d be happy to have stockings and not have spent any money.
I didn’t follow Edie’s directions exactly because I was using a turtleneck sweater. So instead of the bottom hem being the top of the stocking, my turtleneck is the top of the stocking.
I made this one for my daughter while she was at school today. When I picked her up and told her I made her stocking today she said “Ooooh! I hope it’s pink!”
I know her so well…

That is so nice!

sweet! I say as long as you’re doing your christmas crafting as an outpouring of genuine joy and not out of feeling pressured – craft away, no guilt allowed! Enjoy!

The stocking is adorable and I have thought of doing this. Also, thanks for sharing your crafting vs. sit still and enjoy dilemma. Glad to know I’m not the only one.
