Pinecone Flower Wreath

I have committed myself this year to making this holiday season purposeful, crafty, and full of memories for all of us. I want to spend less time in stores and more time with my family, making, creating, enjoying and celebrating. I want a festive home without the credit card bill in January to show for it. I know that I can make our home beautiful for the holidays, create with my kids, and make memories for all of us with just a little effort.

Every year, I attempt to make a wreath. Every year, it turns into a colossal failure. I either don’t have enough stuff, or I just wreck it all up with my clumsy ways. Yet, I have been determined to make a wreath that I am willing (and hopefully proud) to display, and also one that I can do with my kids. All my projects are 5 year old friendly!

This year, I went simple. A grapevine wreath and some pinecones. A hot glue gun and some acrylic sealer. That’s all. Oh and some loppers. you know those big huge branch cutters? Yeah, those.

So, I got this grapevine wreath at Goodwill with some goofy stuff attached to it for 99 cents. I threw away the goofy stuff attached to it. Then I collected a bunch of pinecones.  Then asked my hubby kindly if he would use the loppers to cut off the pinecones for me. Awesome guy that he is, he agreed.

When you lop off the ends of pinecones, there is a place that they make a flower pattern. So you get this:

Use your hot glue gun to attach them all the way around, then spray with acrylic sealer to make it look shiny and finished and you have this:

For 99 cents and about 30 minutes start to finish, a wreath worthy of hanging. And displaying proudly.
