It’s been 2 months since we did the Bathroom Makeover. I feel like it’s all I talked about here at the time. Bathroom bathroom bathroom. I took a break, even though it’s all I want to talk about still. So here I am to blab about it again. I just can’t help myself.
I thought I’d share some of the frugal use-what-I-have things I did to pretty it up with accessories without going out to Hobby Lobby and spending too much money.
49 cents for this little guy at Goodwill that I already had in the house for flowers makes the perfect little garbage can. And it’s worn out vintage look fits right in with the vintage feel of the bathroom.
99 cents for a basket from Goodwill that I got a while back and has been used for many different purposes around the house. It now calls the bathroom home and houses rolled up towels for easy access. It’s a tiny room. Not a lot of storage. This works well.
I have two of these stools from Ikea. Let’s see, here’s a link. They both lived in the kitchen in front of the DIY chalkboard. My son dragged his into the bathroom weeks ago and it lives there now. He loves climbing up and pulling the stopper in the sink and splashing and playing.
see what I mean?
Moving along…
Built-in shelves behind the toilet hold random accessories, a combination of pretty and useful, I think.
Shells, handtowels, framed burlap and a twine ball I made.
I like this box in here (I say that like I am blogging from the bathroom – I’m not, I promise) because the color ties in and because it has that same vintage feel I was going for. This is another item that has moved around the house many times. A tea light in a used up glass jar from the kitchen is about the cheapest thing ever that still looks pretty.
This wall cabinet used to be a floor cabinet. Since I have two little kids who have curious hands, it wasn’t getting used much or if it was, the stuff in it was getting strewn about everywhere. Hubby cut it down and made it the perfect size for a wall cabinet. He’s so handy! I didn’t like that all my bathroom stuffs could be seen so I put this burlap in the glass. I’ll pretend the creases don’t bother me. They bother me less than everyone seeing my stuff.
Instead of getting a new mirror, I just painted the one we had white. Easy peasy.
I thought I was done, but I forgot about the hooks I chose to use instead of what we had before. These have come with us from home to home for the last 10 years. I am not sure where they even came from. But the vintage look was just perfect in here. Love them!
I think that’s it. There I feel better. I sure was itching to take pictures of the bathroom again!

nice work! love the picture of your son. I would blog from that bathroom : )

I’ve been looking forward to seeing the bathroom evolving since we last chatted about it. You’ve done a beautiful job. My favourite details are the hooks and the bucket. It’s details like that that turn our homes into works of art.

When you painted the mirror white, did you tape it off? I am going to be painting the current oak border of our powder room mirror with black paint. Probably primer first. We’re doing the cabinet and mirror black. I just couldn’t decide if painter’s tape would work well around the mirror. I’m a horribly messy painter!

I love your framed burlap.
We have an excessively small bathroom upstairs that our family of 4 shares. Right now, our girls are only 3 1/2 and 1 1/2, but I dread when they get older and sharing becomes really difficult. I think we might make Daddy move to the downstairs bath.
I love that you’ve used what you have on hand. A blogworthy bathroom!

Love the bathroom remodel!
We have one of those stools too, they retail for $15, such a good deal.
I am totally envious of those hooks. I love hooks.

Your new bathroom looks great. I especially like your choice of garbage can – fits the style of the room perfectly. Just goes to prove that you don’t have to spend an excessive amount of money when working on a bathroom remodeling project.

Fabulous job! I have the same rubbish bn in my daughter’s room and we have a metal one with a lid in the bathroom or there would be rubbish everywhere! I love the burlap and the cute little steps x

I love the tile and bead board in your bathroom. It’s more rewarding using your imagination and transforming what you have on hand.
I like what you did with the burlap. I made a table runner out of burlap to place under my cornucopia.

[...] bathroom makeover. Also, a little bit later, you can see how I used what I already had around the house to decorate the bathroom. [...]
I remodel my bathroom. I modify the fan, rather pure water is managing at The wall and also a lot humidity buildup at ceilling. the shower is on a corner The fan is in The wall 10′ a thing. does the Maecenas have to be over the shower? or should I built a hoax ceiling over the shower?
