I bought this book for my daughter in July when she turned 5, Someday.

I was browsing Target for her wishlist and in addition to the few little gifts I got her, I wanted to get her a book just from me. Our reading time is very special to us both.
I picked up this book, Someday, and decided to buy it there on the spot. I don’t buy kid books unless they are from thrift stores for 25 cents usually, but I wanted this one. It was special. A book for us.
As I flipped through the pages, I was smitten. I decided then that it was a book any mother needed to get for her daughter.
I handed it to my own mother and told her to read it. As she read it aloud, she got choked up. So did I.
“One day I counted your fingers and kissed each one”…
“Then you were my baby and now you are my child”…
“Sometimes, when you sleep, I watch you dream, and I dream too…
That someday you will dive into the cool, clear water of a lake.”

“Someday you will walk into a deep wood”

“Someday you will swing – so high, higher than you ever dared to swing.”

“Someday you will look at this house and wonder how something that feels so big can look so small”
“Someday I will watch you brush your child’s hair”
“Someday, a long time from now, your own hair will glow silver in the sun”
“And when that day comes, love, you will remember me.”

By thinking of someday, I am reminded to live for today.

That book is actually in my closet waiting for Paige to be able to sit through a story
So sweet.

Thanks for making us all cry!! Sniff….
I think that would be an amazing photo book to make for each kid. It makes me sad to think at my age now, I may not get to see my daughter’s children grow up. My grandma was 16 when she had my mom and my mom was in her early 20′s when she had me, so I’ve always had them around and taken it for granted. I will be my grandma’s age when my daughter is my age. Pretty wild… Grandma is 81 now! Okay, I’m off to get a tissue and will be giving my girl a giant hug when she gets home today.

Okay, I am BAWLING over here! Oh my word. I absolutely must have that book for our home library. And then I’ll have to practice reading it to myself about ninety-seven times so I can get through it without crying.
(I still have a hard time with at the end of I’ll Love You Forever . . .)
Gorgeous. Thank you for sharing this.

Quit making me cry every time I read one of your posts! The book “Love You Forever” chokes me up like that, too. It was given to me before my son was born, and I couldn’t read it for the first year because it made me bawl. Now, he brings it to me and asks me to read it to him and we cry together.
You are so right. Enjoy every moment.
