Halloween Candle Jar

Halloween Candle Jar

I saw this cute idea for Glowing Jack O Lanterns and thought it would be a fun project to do with my 5 year old today. I couldn’t find any plain orange or black tissue paper, so I went with what I found and decided to do our own version of this without the cute jack o lantern faces.

We each did one and we have more to do tomorrow. The other tissue paper that came in the package has candy corn on it. She thinks we should cover jars in that and then fill them in candy corn. Who am I to argue?

We started by putting mod podge on the glass jars. I loved this project because I got to use jars we already had. I just had to buy the tissue paper. I love $1 projects.

So, you put mod podge on the jar, then pick all the dried bits of mod podge off of your fingers.

I was a little more particular about how my tissue paper went on the jar than she was. But I love that she did it her way.

After smoothing out the tissue paper and putting mod podge over it, we filled the bottom with sand and then put a candle inside and we had ourselves a cute little halloween candle jar.

It’s great how one idea leads into many more. I love your idea with the spiderweb paper. I thought I would try this using transparent glass paint instead of the mod podge.

Lovely finished product and a great idea. My first thought, though, was what in the world is mod podge?! I’m off to google it…
