Simple Pleasures

Simple Pleasures

Now that school has started and we’ve settled into a routine, I am feeling more at ease. I no longer have to worry about how the kids will like school – I know they love it and can’t wait to go. I no longer have to worry about what I will do with my 6 hours per week alone – there is always vacuuming. I am learning to relax, know I can’t do it all and that is okay. Instead, I am doing what I can, and best of all making the most of the moments that we have together at the end of the day and on weekends. I think this new routine will help us appreciate our family time together even more. Even the kids seem to enjoy and appreciate each other (and me!) more now.

I even have more time to plan and cook and make a lot of the yummy meals I love. (Below – Black bean lasagna)

The beginning of a new schedule, a new routine, a new path, has reminded me to take notice of all the wonderful, beautiful, simple moments and opportunities around me.

What simple pleasures are you embracing right now?

Since Tuesdays Unwrapped is back and I feel like this new adventure is unwrapping all kinds of her gifts for me, I am joining in today. Check it out for other gifts being unwrapped today.

Will you share the recipe for the black bean lasagna? Looks scrumptious! And….if it were me and HAD to choose just one of Lisa’s designs, it would be the jumble of charms or perhaps the family tree. I really have a looooong list of Lisa’s designs on my dream list.

“there’s always vacuuming..” heheh. Funny, but back when I still had a few hours per week “kid free”, I never once reached for the vacuum. Glad you’re enjoying the new routine and the simple rhythms of life!

My son starts kindergarten tomorrow and my daughter starts second grade. It will be our first day with two at the same school for the same 6 hour time period. We are commemorating our day with a movie (Inglorious Bastards…love Tarantino)_ at 10:05 a.m. I will actually be able to stay awake and see an adult movie. Novel. I am looking forward to the peace you are feeling as I am feeling day before jitters even though I know in my heart it is going to be the best first day ever. Love routines and looking forward to my new back to school routines with more moments to think and write. Comforting post.

I love this. With two in school all day everyday and one in school two mornings a week, this post is so familiar. I’m so glad you have documented it, as I’m certain in a few years when they are gone more and more, these sweet times will be that much more precious.
