We are entering our final week here at the cottage. The time has flown by, so that must mean we’ve been having fun. Today, we’re celebrating my daughter’s 5th birthday. She loves having her birthday here and we love that having it here means it’s simple fun with family. As I look back on photos from the weeks we’ve spent here, I wanted to share some photos. Photos that sum up the relaxing, simple fun that surrounds this place.
quiet time doing puzzles

early mornings in the kayak

testing the water

learning to swim

the search for a favorite napping place comes to and end. also a favorite playing place.

making lasting friendships

enjoying the sunset

watching the garden grow. A before photo of the garden. I’ll share an after photo soon

Memories have been made, tears have been shed, laughter has overflowed, meals have been cooked for friends and family. Lessons have been learned. Life has been lived to the fullest.

Looks like a wonderful place!

Wow! Its been over a month now?? You sure know how to live.
I don’t think I have ever taken a vacation that long before (if you don’t count being on disability.) Glad you are having a great time and I love the photos.

What a blessing to have such a nice long vacation! Three weeks is the longest I’ve ever been away, and that includes all the exhausting travel time to another country! I think you are very wise to enjoy that break each year.
I hope you’ll return to real life refreshed and renewed! Wouldn’t it be fun to go there ALONE sometime? Have you ever done that? I’ve never vacationed alone but now and then I consider how nice it might be to even have a few days totally alone in a place like that!

It is a strange world when doing puzzles, taking naps and tending the garden are considered down time. Doing puzzles and taking naps helps children’s brains grow, and tending a garden will stand them in fine stead for knowing about how to take care of themselves. My kids spent a lot of time with puzzles too regular naps and went to bed early, living a simple life. Now they work hard at challenging careers with IQs that would make einstein happy. Don’t underestimate the simple things, they have a proven track record.
