Broken
April 21, 2009 at 9:34 am , by Emily
My laptop? Broken.
Internet connection? Broken.
Dishwasher? Broken.
Vacuum cleaner? Broken.
Kids? 2 ear infections.
Some days I have grand plans to get all sorts of things done. Maybe this all is my reminder to just stop. Let the dishes pile up for a few hours, let the sand spend more than 3 minutes on the floor before it gets cleaned up. Let the emails go unread for a day or two. Sit down and snuggle the ones who need me. I am pretty sure this is a not so subtle nudge telling me to slow down. Prioritize. Appreciate. Today, I plan to do just that.

Aw, I have days like that too Em! And sometimes those are the BEST days for just the reason you pointed out. Slowing down and enjoying life in the midst of the chaos is what we need!!

Oh no! You have the ear infections, too? I can deal with everything else but those. It’s so hard to see your little ones hurting. Hope you can let the dishes pile up and have some good cuddle time on the sofa until this all blows over.

I have those days too, it’s hard to decide if it’s a sign to take a break and rest or that I should show determination and overcome the obstacles?

Wow! You certainly titled this post appropriately. It sounds like you are embracing the fact that sometimes broken is the doorway to freedom and rest. A much needed and appropriate reminder for me. Thanks for the link!
