Spring Is In The Air
March 12, 2009 at 10:23 pm , by Emily
The days feel longer, afternoons and evenings linger on. Signs of spring are all around. Windows are open to let the fresh air in. Bike rides, picnics, picking flowers, and making fresh squeezed lemonade are added to the to do list. We’re watering plants again, watching them bloom. Enjoying the pretty.
Have signs of spring started peeking out where you live?

WOW! Where do you live! In our part of the country (Oregon) it is not quite that far into spring. We are almost to the point where weeds start growing again.

In a word, NO. I live in Saskatchewan, Canada, and it was minus 30 last night, and warming up to only minus 12 tonight (Celsius that is). We still have snowbanks everywhere and icy roads. The only sign of spring that I have noticed is that the daylight hours are getting longer.
I can’t wait for it to be spring here.

Yes! Here in the UK the daffodils are just about to start flowering, tulips and poking their heads through and the violets are out. It’s going to be glorious in a couple of weeks

It looks like you are loving your camera! My tulips are popping up in the yard – which is a sure sign of spring.

In Texas, our flowers are blooming, our trees are leafing out, and our grass is green. I love it!
Just yesterday I drove from Tennessee down to Florida with my parents. We were all remarking about how you could literally see the seasons change as we got further south. Everything was gray and brown in Tennessee and most of Alabama, but we started noticing the Azaleas blooming when we got close to the FL border. I think its always fun to take a drive like that (even if it was 7 hours in the car!) this time of year.

Nothing too much….birds are out – buds are still hiding. We did see that our iris patch has little points coming up out of the earth though!

Beautiful!! Birds are chirping away, and the trees are just starting to bud here in Northern Virginia. I’m anticipating the cherry blossoms when I know Spring has truly arrived!

I LOVE Spring. It’s the only time of year when I really miss working in the flower shop. Being in California, we don’t ever get to see Peonies or Lilac naturally, but there’s a two week window from the end of March until the beginning of April where they are both around and the scent is enough to make someone who was dead inside want to live again. Yes, spring has definitely sprung in Long Beach.

I am so envious. Here in New England we still have a lot of snow on the ground and it was 20 degrees at noon today. I need to move where you live! Thanks for at least helping me realize that spring is coming and flowers are blooming somewhere.

Lindsay, aren’t the azaleas amazing?! My parents have them all over their property. I am visiting them tomorrow – don’t tell them this, but it’s mostly so I can take pictures of their azaleas while they play with my kids

Writer dad, where I grew up has a lilac festival every year. There are very few things I miss about the north, but lilacs are one of them.
