My parents got hubby a hammock for Christmas. This is new. He usually gets a gift card to Home Depot. They must actually like the house and think the poor guy needs a relaxing afternoon in a hammock sipping iced tea. It’s not quite warm enough for that yet, but we got it set up today anyway. Instead of spending $100 on a hammock stand, we headed to Home Depot, picked up two 4x4s, a little hardware and headed home for an afternoon family project. After lots of digging and much excitement from the kids, it’s done! And the kids think it was their Christmas present now.

Determined not to let the nice gift turn into a huge expense to make useful, we’re all proud of our frugal DIY accomplishment of a $12 hammock stand that blends right in nicely under the pergola.

This is great – and it does blend in perfectly with your pergola!

I always loved hammocks as a kid. Perhaps I’ll get one this summer to relax in after weeding.
