I’m Hooked On…

October 17, 2008 at 7:40 am , by Emily

Will you just look at this?

Julia at Hooked On Houses gave little old ME this award yesterday. Thank you, Julia! I’m so happy to have “met” you blogging and I am hooked on your blog too!

Julia is having a party today. She’s doing a new feature, Hooked on Fridays.

She says “your assignment is simple: Post something that you’re hooked on. You can show us anything you really, really like–a TV show, a dessert, a pretty room you found in a magazine, or the color red. Whatever! It’s just for fun and to tell us a little more about yourself.”

That’s fun! So I am going to play along. I wasn’t sure what to do for this but you know, I realized that I should just go with whatever I’ve been obsessing over lately. That would be my patio.

Remember my patio? Probably not.

Then I painted the patio set

and it’s just been there. We’ve enjoyed it immensely in the mornings and evenings when it is cool enough to actually sit outside. Now I have become a bit more obsessed with cozying up the space because the temperatures have been dropping and I have more time to sit outside during the days.

To go along with my vegetable gardening obsession, I have also been a bit obsessed with planting flowers in containers. Instead of paying for a section of fencing to close in part of the patio and give it more of an outdoor room feel, I lined one part with planters.

I can feel like there is some privacy there now when I am sitting and having my coffee in the morning. Not that our yard isn’t private anyway, but this is still nicer.

I can sit and watch the kids play on their playground.

I love the red with the bold blue shades in the planter and chair cushions. It’s so cheery.

So there you have it. My current obsession. I’m hooked on my patio. In fact I even am writing this post from there.

What are you hooked on? Feel free to join in Julia’s party and share!

I really like how you painted the table. I frequently fantasize about painting some things on my back deck to have more color out there. This looks like a lovely spot to relax in.

Thanks for joining the blog party!! -Julia :-)

So how did you go about painting your table and chairs? I inherited 3 sets when my mom died, and would like to paint them bright colors, too.

Aw, thanks everyone for the comments! I wish y’all could come over and hang out there with me :)

J, all it took was a can of spray primer and two cans of spray paint to transform the set. I am not all that great at projects, but this one was easy, even for clumsy me!

Oh, your patio and garden look so lovely – and so nice and sunny! I’m looking out of the window at my grey Yorkshire day and feeling very envious.

I love how the patio set turned out – your obsessions are a lot healthier than mine – I’m obsessed with chocolate these days!

I remember the first time you showed the red patio table, at least, I think it was yours. I was in love with the red and it was the first time I realized spray paint could look that good!
