I wrote last week about the stupid thing hubby did while putting up a do it yourself chalkboard on our kitchen wall. A few of you requested then to see it. So I am catering to your request and showing it to you now.

Doesn’t my daughter’s head add nicely to the photo? Please ignore my a shambles kitchen. That is the evil tape that he used that ripped the paint off and the drywall too. Bad tape!

Here it is painted on and then trimmed around it to cover the ripped drywall.
While the kitchen was a shambles, we decided just to go ahead and start painting the walls. We hated the pale yellow and my parents gave us some leftover Sherwin-Williams Regale Blue so we used that.

So there you have it – our do it yourself chalkboard and new kitchen wall color!

Hey, Emily! It turned out great! The little “misjudgment” on the tape turned out for good. It looks amazing with the trimwork! And, I love how one projects leads to another and now you painted your kitchen! LOL! Fun stuff.
So glad you took photos.
Happy Monday!

okay – love it!! now I have chalkboard envy. I can’t convince my husband to let me paint chalkboard paint on the wall because of the texture of the wall.

I love it! I want to do that so badly in our kitchen, but I have a small problem. I have a huge aversion to chalk – it didn’t work out so well when I was teaching in the classroom. I know I’m not going to be the one writing with the chalk – but the thought of touching it drives me crazy, and I’m sure I’ll have to pick it up off the floor. Maybe I can get one of those little chalk holder things – yes, I know I have a problem.
