The Honey-Do List

July 9, 2008 at 8:00 am , by Emily

Before I left with the kids on vacation, I left the required honey-do list for hubby. I am a slave driver. I didn’t leave a list of things like “replace the light bulb in the laundry room”. Nope, I left things on his list like “paint toddler’s bedroom” “rip up carpet and install tile in toddler’s bedroom” “rip up carpet and install tile in our bedroom”. My daughter even got in on the action and left things on his list like “paint my bedroom PINK” and “hang my tire swing”.

So, we’ve been gone for 3 weeks and he has one week left before he joins us here on vacation. The mad scramble is on to make it look like he did anything while we were away rather than sitting and watching movies every night and drinking beer with his buddies.

He has emailed me progress along the way, I think both as something fun for me because he knows how I love photos but also to prove to me that he’s been busy.

So, here’s our son’s room with new paint, trim, a closet door, and tile floor.

And here is the new tire swing!

And my current bedroom getting a new floor

He still has a princess room to paint pink and a kitchen to paint blue. He’s been busy! I hear he’s even been watering my gardens! And even still had time to miss us! I am not sure he’ll get it all done. I just hope he does his dishes and cleans up his beer bottles before he leaves.

Wow! The things you can get done when the wife and kids are away (at least this is what my hubbie will say) he’s been trying to finish up our poor hall bath for like 3 months. All we have to do is put in a toilet…oh and a mirror and a cabinet and some touch up painting and I guess he needs to epoxy the sink so maybe he won’t be done soon! :)

Your son’s room looks so beautiful. Somebody has been busy all these weeks.
Waiting for your room’s pics too.

Nice! My Eldest Daughter informed me yesterday that my bathroom may finally be renovated over the Labour Day long weekend if we go away to the house then.

I’m wondering if that means my son-in-law’s father is going to tile the floor for me, since I’m the designated tiler and I obviously can’t do it either before they demo or after they’ve put in the new vanity and toilet.

It looks like your hubby is doing a lovely job.

A man who’s good with his hands and takes direction well, lucky you :-) I love it how your daughter get her requests in there as well, I guess you’re training her well.

Um, what is your secret? This is above and beyond! The green bedroom is gorg, by the way. Very soothing and not minty.

Yep, you are a slave driver all right.

And lucky to have a “slave” who clearly seems to be very good at his job. I also think he loves it too.

All the needed ingredients for a successful remodelling project.

Best regards

Oh, dear, when I am going away my husband immediately heads for the video store to stock up on sci-fi movies. I know he does the mad scramble to finish his to do list right before I return…I’ll have to remember the “send me photos of the progress” idea. Good one! You’re brilliant! I know he’d set up a tv in the project room in order to keep up with his movies though.

Happy day,
Melissa
