Glad To Be Growing My Own Tomatoes

Glad To Be Growing My Own Tomatoes

I am sure you’ve all seen or heard about the salmonella outbreak from raw tomatoes. It made me really glad that as of last week, we have been eating our own straight from our garden.

Those tomatoes look amazing! So shiny and fresh. Are they pictures of your own?

I heard recently that home grown fruit and veg is much better for you, because you pick it just before you eat it, so it has longer on the plant to receive nutrients from the soil, and less time away from the plant for any nutrients it has to deteriorate.

Uh, my tomato plants are about a foot tall and have a few blossoms. .. .it will probably be August before we have any tomatoes in New York-and that’s with plants that were already starts when i put the out.

    Sigh.

    But yours look lovely!

Yes, they are my own tomatoes in my very own kitchen. I made salad tonight for dinner and forgot to put them in though. Doh! Tomorrow…
