We’ve Come a Long Way

I found some pictures of our house from last year when I was at my mom’s on her computer a few days ago. It’s all so amusing now to look back at how things were. It is good though - to remind me how far we’ve come. My daughter said something yesterday and it really hit me all over again how hard that year was for us. She said “Do you remember when the house was old? You and daddy were always mad!” Well, yes, that is pretty true. Things were rough for a while. But just like our house has been transformed into a beautiful, cozy little haven for our family, our marriage and life are better than ever now. It’s just wild to look back and be reminded of how things were.

Without further ado, some pictures of my home as the bedrooms were being remodeled. Perhaps remodeled is not describing it well. More like rebuilt from the ground up. Here are the pics of during that process on a couple of the bedrooms.

And here is an oldie that I found of the kitchen - and my cutie daughter admiring how pretty it is ha ha

I’ll share some more after photos tomorrow and I thought I would also break down some of the costs to share some of our frugal escapades with this project. I keep reading in magazines that a “minor” kitchen remodel runs $21K and stuff like that and I have to laugh. We haven’t even spent that much yet on our entire home rebuild. So I’ll share some of that tomorrow with the after photos so be sure to check back!

Looks as if you have a fun project on your hands. Can’t wait to see pictures of the final results. Good Luck!

Thanks for sharing! It gives me so much hope.

I wish I had taken more pictures before we started working on our house. I only have a few and they don’t look nearly as yucky as it really was. I didn’t want to face the mess in a camera lens. It was easier to just start scrubbing.

Gosh, I wonder what such a “minor” remodeling would entail. I remember when we (my parents) got the kitchen floor replaced and it wasn’t too bad.
