Training for a Marathon - Starting Today
I have decided to get totally serious about marathon training. I have put it off long enough with excuse after excuse and kid after kid keeping me from being able to find the proper time to train. But I know deep down it has less to do with time and way more to do with motivation. I have to just make the decision to do it, and stick to it. I turn 30 in October and have resolved myself to run a full marathon before then.
I am resolving myself to really do it this time. I’ve downloaded my schedule, I’m going to make time because I need something to do that is just for me. I have dreamt of running a marathon but have failed to get to race day for some reason or another too many times. My ever supportive husband says he’ll not only do what he has to so I can train regularly but if I put in the work and am ready to run one this fall, he’ll take me anywhere I want to go to do it. I’m thinking the Maui Marathon sounds good
Seriously though, we’re thinking it might be the perfect time for a little fall getaway for me to fulfill a dream and for us to take some time away without the kids.
I am excited!

Ooooo sounds like a great thing to do! I agree the Maui one would be a good get a way, or the one that C ran last year, you know the one with the chocolate, diamonds and firefighters?
I actually think its funny that you posted this today of all days.
When I was subbing today the teacher had a Prevention magazine on her desk, and I started reading it there was a segment on training to walk a marathon, I copied it all down. Now to find the time….
That all sounds fabulous. You can do it! :cheer:
Way to go gal!
All the best for the training. Keep us posted on your journey, It might motivate us too.
How exciting!
One of my professors was training for the Boston marathon during our class session (well, not during the class period, but every morning before class). Our whole class got behind him, it was really cool.
wow… that’s awesome. I admire people who run cause I could never do it. Go you!!

You go, girl! I’ll be cheering for you all the way!
I only wish there were a marathon down here…
Hugs!
Awesome! I’m excited for you!
Yayyyyyy! I wish we lived close by - we could train together! I have been losing weight steadily but I need to get more in shape still, and I plan to start running again once it *finally* gets nice here in Seattle.
Good luck! I’m excited to hear your progress.
BTW, the Fruwiki was created like three days ago, so you’re totally not out of the loop
No worries.
Go for it! If you do one of the AIDS marathons, you get training help (plus it’s for a good cause and might be extra motivation).
