I don't view our home as an investment. It isn't making us any money. Our house is worth a lot more than we paid for it, but it has a l.o.n.g. way to go before it is sale ready. A home. WOW. It is a word that defines every human being. I watch the faces of my grandchildren when they visit and can climb and play to their hearts content and it brings back the memories of our children at their ages. My wife and I will be moving to Panama in November. I hope your transition, when you're, goes well. My son asked me, "Dad it is so far away and how will we ever see you and mom?" This is the first time to your blog and I thought I'd introduce myself. I can so relate to your post. I have a blog called Forever and Ever House and it is about my husband and I renovating our house. I know that I don't have to explain what a Forever and Ever House is to you...you had it all in your blog!! :o) Anyway, we got our house on a deal and it is a definate fixer upper. We are overwhelmed to say the least...financially, with our time etc.!! However we knew what we were getting into when we moved and we've been telling ourselves that we have the rest of our life to fix the place up to the way we like it. We've started with just simply painting and I am ignoring everything else for now. Anyway, if you get a chance, I'd love for you to drop by! Good luck with your decision. Hello! Seems like every home my husband and I have purchased we have never really treated just like "home." We've worried about resell and whether we will lose money on the deal. We currently have our home on the market and we are sure we will lose money...this market is just not a good time to sell...but, we are ready (like you) to find a home that is just a home -- one that we can really put our feet up in and enjoy with each other and our family. Unfortunately, we are in our early 50's...and, it has taken us this long to realize we need a HOME. Good for you that you have "gotten it" much earlier! Good luck with your house search!
