And actually, we don’t have his and her tools. (I’m too cheap for that.) My husband doesn’t own a sander and never will. He hates finish work. He does get quizzical looks though when he explains that the sander is mine.

@BeThisWay – I was thinking green paint. But I don’t want it to come out feeling Christmas-y because of the red I’m using as an accent. So the long answer is I’m not sure yet. I just know I don’t like the yellow. I love the idea of hanging the birdcage. I’ll have to get creative to do it but I think I can.

@Lisa – I love YOUR kitchen all cute and cozy and full of character. But I know what you mean! This kitchen certainly isn’t my dream kitchen but it’s not so bad either. Thanks for stopping by

I have a little palm sander. I bought it for myself. My husband never touches it. For a bit of labor and paint we have a nice dresser, a bookshelf, and a coffee table. I like to see the possibilities.

You could hang the bird house from the ceiling somewhere for a nice touch. My mom found an antique bird cage hanger somewhere once. That would be neat, too, if you could find one in the trash somewhere.

I love the curtain – it looks great! I can’t wait to see the finished kitchen…I am obsessed with kitchens and can’t wait to re-do ours one day…sigh

I love your little curtain! What a frugal coup!

My sister-in-law has granite tile counters with almost no grout line and they’re gorgeous – and a fraction of the cost of granite slab. That’s going to be great. What color are you painting the walls?

My husband would never let me near his power tools. That might have something to do with the time I used his chisel to take off wallpaper and gouged the wall. Whoops!

You could put a plant in the birdfeeder and hang it from the ceiling. Or, if you’re really adventurous, you could turn it into a hanging lamp…
