I went years without a checkup. Had one, diagnosed with the need for a root canal. Ouch. Had to have gum surgery after the root canal. Double ouch. Got lectured by the dentist about brushing and flossing. Triple ouch. After the root canal, a few cavities. Ouch ouch ouch. This was after 20 years of no problems whatsoever. I made it to my mid-30s with no teeth problems and then BOOM. Learned my lesson. Priceless. Thanks for the link and keep up with the visit. Trust me - you never, ever, ever, want gum surgery.
